Tips and Hints for Playing Online Poker
Texas hold-em poker has grown exponentially over the past few years. It seems that there are games and tournaments just about everywhere, and the Internet is no exception. I have been playing on line now for about 2 years, and have done well for the most part and I would like to share my experiences to educate and hopefully help you to survive the next game you join.
There are a ton of books out there for you to read about how the game is played, and also many more that supposedly give you the strategies to win. Unfortunately, these self help books do not prepare you for what you will encounter when you hit the tables on line.
The first thing you need to know is people will play just about ant two cards. I have come across players who will only play rags, (statistically low hands) and win with them. Don’t be fooled into thinking that a pair of aces is going to win, an opponent may be holding connecting cards ( a 5 and a 6 or a 7 and 8, cards that are in sequential order) and end up hitting a straight after the flop, turn, and river are dealt. Without actually being in the room with your opponent, it can often times be difficult to read a player.
